They say the first 48 hours are a blur - my mission is to make sure they are a blur you can revisit forever.
There is a timeless beauty in ‘unposed’ portraits. As a Cheshire newborn photographer, I believe the most profound images aren’t found in a studio with artificial lights, but in the quiet, fleeting moments of real life.
Last year, I had the absolute pleasure of capturing a very special moment at Leighton Hospital in Crewe. My lovely client Rozz Darlington (of Married at First Sight fame) invited me to document the arrival of her beautiful baby girl. Having been privileged enough to document Rozz’s entire pregnancy journey - starting from the very first announcement - capturing this first chapter of her daughter's life was incredibly moving.
While Rozz is no stranger to being in front of the lens, this session was all about the newest star in the room.
The Beauty of Natural Newborn Photography
I have always wanted to document a natural in-hospital newborn photoshoot. Even though we only had a tiny ten-minute window to capture these portraits, the result is a stunning gallery documenting the first 24 hours of a brand-new life.
The timing, however, was a total whirlwind! Rozz’s due date lined up exactly with a scheduled operation of my own. As any parent knows, babies rarely follow a calendar. Late one evening, just days before my surgery, I received the magic message: “Baby has arrived.”
With mum and baby settling in comfortably on the ward, I called the Leighton Maternity Ward the following morning to clear permission for a quick visit. What followed was the epitome of lifestyle photography: finding that soft, natural hospital light and documenting real-life moments exactly as they happened.
Bringing the Story Home
Even a quick photoshoot can produce timeless results when the focus is on connection rather than props. Parents are increasingly looking for unposed newborn photography in Cheshire because it captures the feeling of those early days - the hospital bassinet, the tiny ID tags, and the raw emotion of a new family unit.
While this hospital visit was a beautiful, one-off celebration of a long-term client’s journey, my heart truly lies in lifestyle in-home newborn photography.
I bring this same natural, unposed approach directly to your doorstep. An in-home newborn session allows your family to relax in your own environment, capturing your baby’s first days where they are most comfortable. No studios, no stiff posing - just your real life, beautifully documented.
